Sets of the Dior fashion show

Sets of the Dior fashion show

Until Sunday 30 January, access to the sets of the prestigious Dior haute couture fashion show - spring/summer season 2022 - located in our garden, is open to the public and included in the museum entrance ticket.

For one week only, the monumental embroidered works of the Indian couple Madhvi and Manu Parekh, which served as backdrop for the fashion show, will stand alongside Rodin's sculptures. The sculptor's nymphs and half-gods are met by the many Indian divinities and personifications symbolised in the embroidery, and the exploration of the male/female dichotomy in their complementarity. We can almost imagine "The Walking Man" or "The Whistler Muse" dashing down the catwalk!

Savoir-faire and craftsmanship are given pride of place. Up close, the working of material and colour according to the embroidery craft is revealed, and the embroiderers' technique of the Chanakya School of Craft, in Mumbai, is highlighted.

This week's visit to the museum promises a whole spiritual dimension and an immersion in the artists' imaginations, where the strange and familiar rub shoulders with the real and surreal. Don't delay in enjoying this spectacular experience.
