ON THE PROGRAM
The CHANTS of THE GATES OF HELL
The Gates of Hell holds a special place in Auguste Rodin’s work. For years, he feverishly brought to life more than two hundred figures. He devoted himself entirely to this project, drawing inspiration from Dante’s Inferno, the first part of the Divine Comedy, in which the 13th-century Florentine poet recounts his journey through the underworld.
Brought to life with staging and a choir, this monumental work awakens to immerse you in an infernal atmosphere. Will you join the chants of The Gates?
- Every 30 minutes, from 7:00pm to 11pm | Meeting point: in front of The Gates of Hell
THE DARK FOREST
In Canto I of the Divine Comedy, Dante wanders through a dark forest where he is confronted by three beasts. Dare to take this path of darkness, venturing into the undergrowth armed with nothing but a lantern... Anything might happen. At the end of the trail, you may come face to face with a Dantean figure lurking in the shadows.
- Continuous from 7:00pm to 11pm | Meeting point: entrance to the undergrowth
CROSSING THE ACHERON
In Canto III, a group of souls gathers at the banks of the river Acheron, waiting for Charon, who will ferry them to the other side in exchange for a toll. Will you be able to negotiate with the ferryman to continue your journey through Hell?
- Continuous from 7:00pm to 11pm | In the woods
The Ascent from Hell in Orpheus’ Garden
As the Latin poet Virgil writes in Book IV of the Georgics, few manage to escape from Hell. Wander through Orpheus’ garden, guided by the sound of his lyre and the light that appears at the end of this winding path… Do not make the same mistake he did. Will you emerge from Hell without looking back? Eurydice will be watching.
- Continuous from 7:00 pm to 11:pm | Follow the path that winds through Orpheus’ garden
The “Choose Your Own Adventure” Visit
The world of The Gates of Hell is rich and varied, full of literary references. Using a “choose your own adventure” booklet, you can explore the museum rooms at your own pace, uncover the stories behind some of Rodin’s most iconic works, and create your own. Designed by Le Labo des Histoires.
- Continuous from 7:00pm to 11:30pm | Meeting point: Hôtel Biron

For one night, the boundaries between Hell and Earth fade, like ink or charcoal in Rodin’s black drawings. Take part in creating a large-scale artwork… and, if you wish, take home a fragment of it.
