Du maître à l'œuvre, Rodin dans le Zagreb de Mestrovic

Rodin dans le Zagreb de Mestrovic

The exhibition Rodin in Meštrović’s Zagreb, conceived expressly for the Art Pavilion in Zagreb who already presented Rodin in 1968, will cover seventy works and emphasise the fertile and vigorous influence of Rodin on the work of Ivan Mestrovic. As well as works in bronze, plaster and stone, and some score of drawings, historical photographs will be shown, including those of the art photographer Eugène Druet, who photographed Meštrović’s works while he was working in Paris.

The exhibition project in the Art Pavilion in Zagreb has been devised by Catherine Chevillot, director of the Rodin Museum in Paris and Andro Krstulović Opara, director of the Ivan Meštrović Museums. Curators are Veronique Mattiusi (Rodin Museum) and Barbara Vujanović (Meštrović Studio). The exhibition design is by Andro Krstulović Opara and the director of the Art Pavilion Jasminka Poklečki Stošić.

The exhibition is organized within the framework of Rendez-vous, the Festival of French Culture in Croatia in 2015. In this presentation, France is returning the visit of the successful first presentation of Croatian culture and art in the French Republic in 2012/2013 Croatie, la voici. In this context, a selection of sculptures of Ivan Meštrović had been presented in the Rodin in Paris.

Durning the exhibition in Zagreb, the famous work Meditation – The Inner Voice by Auguste Rodin will be exceptionnally presented in the Meštrović Gallery in Split.
