From October 22, 2015, the Musée Rodin is inviting chocolate-maker extraordinaire Patrick Roger – a sculptor with a difference! – to install a work in the museum’s entrance hall to celebrate its reopening. Chocolate versions of The Thinker will also be displayed in the windows of all his nine shops. 

Patrick Roger uses leaves and colors in his work to create extraordinary worlds of form. These introduce a range of aesthetics that always correspond to challenges the artist meets with simple means that also constitute the inflexible rules by which he plays. The true artist only works well when laying down laws and playing with their constraints. Patrick Roger’s chosen material requires specific technical skills; in a sense, he has had the intelligence to take his material literally, to exploit all its possibilities. Both explorer and experimenter, he revisits two key aspects of sculpture: the geometric and the organic, the mineral and the vegetal, from Brancusi to Stahly.
